Lying west of the industrial Duncan Dock, the V&A Waterfront is Cape Town’s original Victorian harbour. Before its construction the Cape of Storms was notorious for wrecking ships during ferocious winter spells. In 1860 a very young Prince Alfred ceremoniously dumped the first load of stone to begin work on the Breakwater and 1869 the twin basin dock was completed.
Renovated period buildings, imitation Victorian malls, piers and a busy harbour coexist with an astonishing collection of pubs, clubs, eateries, museums and outdoor theatres set against the panoramic view of Table Mountain.
The V and A Waterfront has a centrally situated Old Port Captain’s Office which lies next to the modern swing bridge, connecting it to the whimsical Clock Tower and further along the Nelson Mandela Gateway. Here you can book the only tours on Robben Island, and it’s the departure point for the ferry. The Gateway has a restaurant and museum with high-tech interactive displays conveying the island’s history, voices of prisoners and freedom songs.
SafariNow has a selection of Self-catering, Hotel, Private Home holiday accommodation in V and A Waterfront and surrounds.

Mozambique offers pristine beaches, warm waters and unspoilt reefs. Scuba diving here is truly world class. Mozambique has steadily established itself as one of the top dive destinations in the world.
Scuba Mozambique’s website will guide you to the top dive destinations in Mozambique offering Mozambique Accommodation or Mozambique dive tours.
Barra
Barra offers some unique diving experiences partially due to amazing ocean life but also due to the experience and knowledge of our preferred dive centre in that area. The area is hugely popular by South Africans and foreign tourists as the dives and accommodation are of high quality and very well priced.
Inhaca Island
Inhaca Island is a small-inhabited island, lying just 40 km off the Mozambican capital of Maputo and positioned at the entrance to Delagoa Bay. Diving here is recommended for Advanced Divers only as the currents here are very strong. There are some reefs for beginners though…
Jangamo Bay
Jangamo Bay is home to some of Mozambique’s most popular resorts such as Guinjata Bay Resort and Seablue Scuba Lodge to name a few. All resort dive centres at Jangamo Bay dive the world famous Manta Reef and do daily whale shark trips during season. Jangamo Bay is best known not only for Manta Reef but also Pandaine Express, one of the two top shark reefs in Mozambique.
Maputo
The city of Maputo offers no diving. Maputo is good for an overnight stop and it is also the gateway to the Inhaca Island.
Pomene
Pomene is the ultimate diver’s hideaway. Three hours from the nearest main road makes this tranquil spot a heaven of untouched reefs and pristine beaches. Pomene also has a fantastic shark reef called Big Surprise. Every time you dive this reef you will get a big surprise. Pomene also has marine rich shallow reefs for the novice diver. You can fly or drive to Pomene.
Praia do Tofo
Praia do Tofo is what the guys at Scuba Mozambique like to call the whale shark Mecca of the world. Here you can swim with many whale sharks during season and still have a fair chance to see them out of season. Tofo is also home to Manta Reef, rated as one of the top dive sites in the world.
Vilanculos
Vilanculos is the Gateway to The Bazaruto Islands. This large town was able to restore itself to its former beauty and functionality prior to hurricane Favio. The reefs rich with sea life around The Bazaruto Archipelago are accessible from the town of Vilanculos on the mainland as well as from one of the island lodges. The near extinct Dugongs used to frequent the waters of Vilanculos. There are still some around and you may be lucky to encounter one of these animals on a dive.

Sharks are the most commonly feared ocean creatures and are the reason behind many beautiful beaches being closed with thousands of swimmers refusing to leave the safety of the shoreline. Perhaps the most fearsome extreme sport, Shark Cage Diving takes you into the territory of the world’s scariest predator, giving you the adrenaline rush of a lifetime.
Shark Cage Diving is one of the Cape’s most popular extreme tourist activities. Shark Cage diving in Cape Town allows you to come up close and personal with these formidable creatures, whilst safely being out of the reach of their infamous jaws.
There are many reasons why sharks are feared. Their teeth and what some think evil looking eyes are perhaps at the forefront of our minds. Images from famous films of fins slicing through the water and scary music accompanying sharks have most of us cowering at the thought of them. Endless photography and video recordings of sharks moving quickly and brutally catching their prey work in our imaginations, and stories reported and passed around have told us that these creatures won’t stop at anything if they are hungry. The fear and panic sharks create in us makes the latest and possibly the most terrifying extreme activity Shark Cage Diving so compelling.
